Discussion: Zytiga/Prednizone

Haven't had any side effects other than sleeping difficulty but would agree it's best to take with food.
Prescribing doctor said consistent, long-term usage can cause bones to soften but most people take it in a single 7 to 10 day tapering dose for a specific problem (inflammation, pain, swelling).
Prednisone is a steroid & once you take it you'll see why steroid use was rampant in pro baseball; it makes you feel stronger & more energetic, at least in the short term . . .

have taken prednisone sporadically for the last 20 years. Great as an anti-inflammatory & seems to ramp up your whole energy level but sometimes to the point it becomes hard to get to sleep.
Should probably take it all at once in the morning.

Discussion: divivsions..

Agree w/coop but would keep the existing divisions & go with the following rules:
AA - 0 HRs & 4 runs/inning
AAA - 1 HR & 5 runs/inning
Major - 3 HRs w/1-up & 6 runs/inning
Major + - 5 HRs w/1-up & 7 runs/inning

All excess HRs would still be outs; wouldn't be perfect of course but should get more teams to play up to their level to reduce sand-bagging which seems to be the #1 complaint on this board about the current SSUSA system.

Thanks Surf; had 2nd rotator cuff repair 3 weeks ago & hoping to be able to play again by August or September.
Sounds like the tee might be a good rehab tool for rebuilding the swing.

Any comments on whether batting tees are helpful in re-habbing your swing after surgery?
Which brands are the best for softball?

Discussion: SSUSA Staff: Shaved Bats

Probably a lot more shaved bats in senior ball now that SSUSA has switched to the crappy, underperforming Trump Stote ball. Same thing that "allegedly" happened in open age ball when they started switching to the crappy, underperforming 52/300 ball.

Discussion: flip flop and one up in league play

Be careful what you wish for; if you flip-flop in the 7th then start the 2nd game as the home team, you'll end up playing 4 innings in a row in the field.

Discussion: Do we pay to play by the hour??

Since you're only allowed 5 or 7 runs per inning, it's only fair to play 7 innings so a team that falls behind early has a chance to catch up without having to score 10 or 15 runs in the open inning.

BW; sadly can't even remember what Senior association(s) we were playing in back then but on the East Coast the only ball we used in that era was the 47/525 Dudley.
Then in 2003 the Ultra 2 bat was introduced & was still a much hotter combo than today with that 47/525 ball.
By the fall of 2003 we had switched over to the 44/375 ball which was the Dudley White Thunder that was/is a much hotter/harder ball than today's 44/375 balls especially the current lousy Trump Stote that many on this board have complained about.

In 2002 we were all using the 47/525 Dudley Red Thunder & the original Ultra (1) came out and Everyone that owned one could hit it out.
Way, way, way hotter than today's bat/ball combo.

Discussion: 2-Piece vs 1-Piece

Are there any absolute pros (or cons) for a 2-piece bat vs a 1-piece bat or does it still come down each particular bat's construction?
The 2-piece bats seem to have a bigger sweet spot but that's just an unscientific feeling so any opinions, or better yet, facts would be appreciated.

Discussion: Question about single-wall metal bats

Thanx for the replies; agree with all of them.
That was the era when the umps all used the metal ring to see if it would slide up & down the barrel; if it hung up they knew the bat was dented and threw it out.
Back then in the single-wall era about the only thing that mattered for a hitter was the weight of the bat.
