Discussion: The "ROCK SOFTBALL"

Hi All:

It sounds like I was wrong to say 75% would pay to hit the Rock in all tourneys. Looks like I am in the minority on this. The Trump Stote we use now is just not a very good ball.

Thanks:

James

Discussion: The "ROCK SOFTBALL"

I would bet that over 75% of the teams would pay a bit more on entry fee if the Rock was used in every tournament in the country. Hitting a good softball is what nearly every senior player wants to do. If the balls for the 2018 season are already in route what good is it to ever bring this topic up in the upcoming meeting?

This Summer I took 3 Trump Stotes I n near new condition that I bought 5-6 years ago and compared them to three brand new Trump Stotes we currently use and there is a definite difference in performance. They are near identical up to about 275' but at that point the newer ball dies and the older ball keeps traveling. I don't know what they changed but they definitely perform different.

If we have to use the Trump can the producers of this ball get it back to the same specs it was made 5 years ago?

If SSUSA is contracted to use the Stote then why don't they ask the manufacturer to make a small change to the ball so it is better in the heat? This ball has went down hill the last few years. All you have to do is grab a Trump Stote that was produced 5-7 years ago to the ball that is produced today.

If you have a choice the very last ball I would pick is the Trump Stote and the first would be the Rock. The Stote has been going down hill the last 3-4 years so it should be eliminated in all play.

Discussion: shaved bats

A few years back I think there were far more guys swinging shaved bats than there are now. The newer bats are hot enough so now teams are trying to figure out how to cheat with the balls.
I had 6 new Trump Stotes from about 8 years ago and threw them in with some of this years production and if you don't think the balls have changes just give that test a try.

Thanks for all the information.

One other thing I noticed is the bat has the ISF 1.20 oval on it. That is probably standard on the older bats.

Thanks for the input.

Are these older Miken's still legal for SSUSA play? I probably won't keep this one because my playing days are about over.

The end cap on the one I have is completely smooth with nothing on it at all. The only mark the cap has on it is where it looks like it was dropped on the concrete near the edge. I never got to hit one of the old gray originals but this one has a totally different feel than any bat I have hit is a few years.

Discussion: Older Miken U2

Hi All:

I was wondering if any of you have information on an old Miken I recently traded for. On the outside it had the ASA 2000 marking. Has the flat paper Miken handle cap with the swoosh M and 34-28oz. The end cap is plastic with nothing on it. I know a lot of the older ones have the "W" on the cap. The grip was in bad shape from being in an old bat bag for many years so I took it off. The production date is 4-1-03. Is this the first year of the U2? The barrel has a totally different feel to it than the newer models. It is used but in good shape so I hit 3 balls with it and it fells very hot.

Thanks for any information you can give me.

Discussion: Trump Stote Softball Concerns

The Trump Stote has been going down hill the last couple years and a majority of players who pay to play this great game are not happy about it. Senior Softball can ask Trump to correct this issue without changing the name on the ball and the contract would not be violated. That is what good businesses do when there is an obvious issue that needs addressed.

Discussion: A True Equalizer

This is a topic I have always thought was way out of wack and needs to be fixed. The upper team gives the lower team a perfect inning of scoring without any effort or using any of their Home Runs. I have always heard it does not matter much because in the big tourneys all teams will be playing in their own division but it does matter for many reasons including pride. I have played in many golf tournaments where it is nearly impossible to win because of the handicap system and that is about the way it is when a good Major or Major+ senior softball team plays a good AAA or Major team. Then you get the guys who brag about winning a game where they get every possible advantage and think they really did something.

Discussion: Trump Rock

I don't know what the best ball would be but the Trump Stote we use now in most of the tournaments gets worse every year. I am not a HR hitter but still like to hit a good ball. It is time for a change and it would be nice for this topic to be discussed at the SSUSA summit meeting. If it is about $ I am sure most teams would gladly spend a few extra $ to hit a good ball. If it is not about $ then lets give it a shot.

Discussion: When did bats start getting END CAPS ?

I believe it was back in the mid to late 70's when Bombat came out with a bat with an end cap. I thought their first models had a cap and shortly after they went to a solid end.

Hi Shane:

If they were going to bump your club up this is way to late in the year to do it. You guys have a good team but to do it near the end of the season is a poor decision.

If the bat is as good as advertised I don't mind waiting even though I prepaid. If the bat is a dud that changes everything.

Is the Melee II going to be ordered in a 12" version? The same for the 2016 Miken's. I heard both of them may make a 12" but is that confirmed?

Thank You:

James
