I have changed my mind......
I have been an opponent to the rule of making the pitchers wear masks.
I have changed my mind. (Thanks SSUSA)
We played in Vegas this weekend and I was hit in the face by a very hard hit softball.
The mask saved my cheek from being crushed...lol
It still hurt and gave me a very sore cheek and a black eye.
I will be wearing one from now on.
Just my 2 cents as always.
Thanks again SSUSA.

I have seen soooo many guys laugh at others or think it won't happen to them only to get hit and then realize protection is well worth the price!

A face mask pays for itself in just one solid hit to the face.
Much cheaper than the ambulance trip and the hospital costs.
Not to mention A LOT LESS PAIN!!

Right! I've never been hit in the face, but I will NEVER pitch without one. (not to mention the protection in certain other areas....)

I would wear one in the infield at any position, league or level or sanction... don't trust any hops... would even say it would lead to better form by infielders squaring up on the ball to field it in general. Glad it saved you!

coop3636....I was a player on the Topgun team that day that you took the ball to the face....it was fortunate that you had that mask on or only God knows how further you would have been injured....glad to hear that it is not as bad as it could have been....God Speed on your recovery....Goog Luck to you and your team mates there in Tennessee...

glad to hear your ok coop......i've been wearing mine(5-6 yrs at least) since ssusa started talking about having to wear one....i also use one for the infield for bad hops....also for pitching i wear a batting helmet when pitching(coaches style like base coaches use)turned around like a catchers helmet.....with the ripit mask the helmet protects the top of my head.....

Mad dog, nice to see you again this morning!
Harold Jones, a teammate on my 65m+ team, broke his nose when a ball came off the outfield screen and struck him.
Magsdad, how about good luck wishes to us on coop's team that live in Georgia? ;)

Hey, Coop-hope you are ok-these balls-the rock-really behave differently than others and come off the bat fast. I think it is the lack of raised seams. Glad you weren't hurt badly, and it was nice to meet you briefly.
Bruce-it was nice to chat with you for as long as we did. I wish we were closer and played each other more!
