Aug. 22 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Sports are supposed to build character, not become one! |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Hey Jeff. SSUSA has a responsibility to all of us to enforce it's standard for disparaging conduct/behavior. When characterless and classless characters with bad intentions can maraud and patrol at will there can be no respectful web site decorum or standards. SSUSA, like a policeman on a freeway or a referee in any game have to make a call. |
Aug. 22 SSUSA Staff 3505 posts | The SSUSA response: These two (einstein and gary c) are like two 8-year-olds sharing a bedroom and absolutely having to have the last word once Daddy turns out the lights every night. mad dog plays the role of the bratty older brother to fuel the fire for his own amusement. The two principal offenders 'disappeared' late last year for about six months for precisely this type of recurring and incessant behavior. "Daddy" is about to turn the lights out on them again very soon, for an extended period of time. It's completely up to them if they can't get a firm grasp on their own compulsions. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | You're equating the two of us is most telling of you and your response, SSUSA. And that would be a majority opinion. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Gary C's only mantra is to antagonize me and getting me kicked off the site. If you don't see that you are blind or have another interest in his behavior and effect. |
Aug. 22 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Joe, one of Dennis Rodman's mantras was to do that very thing. Last I checked it got him a bunch of rings, and a spot in Springfield. |
Aug. 22 gary c 418 posts | Joe I have been warned but you seem to think it's just me not you . The first post I made you were all over me like a cheap suit. True I have been all over you in return but I think the problem is your like the schoolyard bully when someone comes back at you instead of running away you run to teacher and cry there picking on me. You reap what you sow! Dave I will try to do better but so should this guy. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | But Rodman had REAL game, G which is why everyone put up with this stuff, including the refs. This community knows the difference between Gary C and me and SSUSA would like me out of the way for more than one reason, I suspect. |
Aug. 22 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | That he did Joe, but because of the antics many don't give him enough credit for what he did on the court. |
Aug. 22 EG Fred Men's 65 17 posts | SSUSA Staff, I agree totally with your description! I rarely post, but had to let you know that there is a player (unlike Joe I can only speak for myself) out here that is realy tired of the back and forth stuff that seems to ruin every thread! In my opinion, and I only have one vote, you would be doing everyone that likes to communicate via this site a hugh favor by "turning out the lights", as you put it, as soon as possible. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | This clown won't identify himself or the utter filth and characterlessness of his repeated attacks with any apology and then we do know he's a proponent of the 52x275 ball? Who is he and what purposes and masters does he truly serve? And now he wants to kiss and make up? Get the F outa here! You're accountable, son whether you want to be or not. We, the community who have been paying attention know and can sense exactly what's going and who's who and the longer and more this gets played out the clearer it will all become. SSUSA need to uphold its community and standards of the web site and remove disparaging individuals/responses from our midst. Check on Gary C and look at the character of his responses and then check mine if you have ANY doubt about what I'm saying. Gary and SSUSA. You're not fooling anyone and the longer this all plays out the clearer it will ALL become. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | This comes out of SSUSA unwillingness to accept responsibility as the authoritative operator of this sight and to enforce as per its own standards in its and our behalf. We have the right if not need to defend OURSELVES if SSUSA will not defend us from attacks. |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Whew---suicide by blog--WOW |
Aug. 22 SSUSA Staff 3505 posts | We have a guest artist warming up in the "Green" room! ... Dandy Don! |
Aug. 22 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Narcissistic personality disorder: Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism. Narcissistic personality disorder is one of several types of personality disorders. Personality disorders are conditions in which people have traits that cause them to feel and behave in socially distressing ways, limiting their ability to function in relationships and in other areas of their life, such as work or school. Narcissistic personality disorder treatment is centered around psychotherapy. |
Aug. 22 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Share the wrath and blame, the 3 of them should go, not just one. einstein, gary c, & mad dog. This ridiculous stuff is one of the reasons I stopped posting, another is the hypocrisy here. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Great comment, Dave and telling. I am judged by my community and not by the website's administrators and its clowns. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | And Captain Kirk, Spock or whoever you are. There's nothing healthy about being well adjusted to a sick/unfair society. Captain Kirk. That's hysterical. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | SSUSA's abdication of it's role as site superviser/operator parented the major conflicts we've seen on this site. They haven't taken enough of a stand in defense of community against below the belt attacks by unscrupulous attackers. |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Website administrators and its clowns???????? Did you just call Dave, Fran, Terry, and all the others that make SSUSA possible-clowns??? Just saying...... |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | That's not what I meant and you know it, Mark. Its refers to the web site's clowns. Need a lesson in english give me a call. |
Aug. 22 gary c 418 posts | Joe are you kidding I was thrown off this site also and was not allowed back until after you were.Does the word PARANOID ring a bell. |
Aug. 22 Garocket Men's 55 259 posts | The description that Dave has written is pretty close but einstein has got to be the biggest prick onthe board some others just make me laugh but einstein things that he is the softball god and what he says is the word straight from the makers mouth |
Aug. 22 gary c 418 posts | At least i am the second biggest prick on the board thanks Garocket that was funny. Gary C |
Aug. 22 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Albert: To put it less negatively: 1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational. 2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted. 3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle. 4. You are more ARROGANT than humble. Compatibility: Your exact opposite is the Robot. Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Schoolyard Bully, the Smartass, and the Brute. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | There's nothing healthy or good about being a well adjusted to a sick or unfair society. How do like them apples, fellas and gals? Gary you disingenuous poser. Garocket. I'd give you a formal welcome back if you ever told us who you were? |
Aug. 22 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Just to clarify something. When Rodman was winning championships here in Detroit, he was just another player. It was after something internal happened within the lockeroom that his outward personality changed. After that, he was gone before we knew it. Then Rodman went Galactic!!! |
Aug. 22 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | On the character thing, maybe I was wrong!!!!!!! |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Oh, heck, now way to actually return to the thread, Pricer. What's that all about? |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | More unaccountable characters. Goodie. I'm starting to wake up. What makes you think any of us or the super majority of us have any respect for anyone who doesn't have the guts, dignity or self respect to identify himself to another human being he's being critical of. Let's let that reverberate and sink in a little more. |
Aug. 22 gary c 418 posts | Truth hurts joey |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | "Respite, respite and Nepenthe". What a relief you two, Mark and Jeff. Real people, accountable and identifiable what a blessing and tonic for the spirit. |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Once upon an afternoon dreary, As I pondered, thought and queried, over ponderous blogs of forgotten lore and waited for many blogs and more. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Don't you guys get that a real competitor doesn't hear the cries, taunts even praises of "the crowd", the herd, the anonymous ones who often belch and fart phrases and only when hidden and protected by the thickness and odor of the pack. |
Aug. 22 gary c 418 posts | Your making me look good Joey |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | C'mon, Mark. And while I nodded nearly napping, Suddenly Mark started rapping somewhat louder than before. Saying something? Nevermore. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | That's impossible, son. |
Aug. 22 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | hell i don't even know what to say in this thread, nice try pricer tho.......... |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | it's about time you admitted it, Robert. Now you can relax. |
Aug. 22 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Hey, what about them Lions? |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Wonder when you would stop 'Raven' and catch that! Lions-I'm a fan, but 3-37?? |
Aug. 22 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | lions,you mean the patriots.. |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Just looked in-there is one named person-me-and 50 anonymous. People are reading-why aren't they putting in their 2 cents worth? |
Aug. 22 JLD930 Men's 55 67 posts | There was a point when readers on this message board could actually enjoy meaningful (softball related) discussions. It has now become little more than a forum for personal attacks. Most threads are hijacked and digress to the same old crap. Speaking from a personal standpoint something I previously enjoyed I now rarely visit. If I wanted to watch (listen to) people argue I would turn on reality TV |
Aug. 22 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | Webbie 25: I can only assume that your last post was meant to be a rhetorical question. Since I don't know for sure, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. In case that you really were asking why no one would post on this thread I can only speculate as to why this would be. Perhaps the '50 anonymous readers'were searching for something meaningful. Quite simply, most people neither wish to be involved in this 3 ring circus (along with the flame fanners) and/or they don't want to read it. SSUSA Staff was right on the money on his/her post. This is the primary reason why people with pertinent thoughts prefer to avoid the whole process. I know that this is why I rarely do. Someone cue Dandy Don... 'Turn out the lights... the party's over'... Bob Woodroof |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | the wood-thank you-It was wishful thinking. Most of my posts are at least some tongue in cheek, if you look for it. I look for the humor in any situation-and my poor teammates spend most of their time groaning around me. Your answer is spot-on and I really hope we can turn the board into something constructive, and people can post on here without fear of being jumped on. JLD930-yes it is worse than reality (or unreality) TV. I really tried with about 15 humorously meant posts to derail the out of control train today. It didn't work and if I offended anyone, sorry. This forum could really foster some good ideas if we let it. |
Aug. 22 hombre Men's 60 240 posts | I'm glad to read that the SSUSA Staff and EG Fred are finally thinking about taking some action to make reading this board enjoyable and informative again. And Capt Kirk.s assessment is pretty much right on. Almost every thread is ruined by these three immature, inconsiderate name calling guys. I have meet and played against Joe and Bob. On the field they are good guys. On this board, they ruin almost every thread with their bickering, and name calling and one upsmanship. As far as Gary C, I've never meet him. On this board he's always been an iconoclast of civility, adding very little of interest to anyone. I hope that the staff will man up and do what they deem necessary to make this board enjoyable again for the softball players. I'm not anonymous. Webbie25, the vast majority of readers feel like you and I. They just don't want to pig wrestle. I made my views know several weeks ago in very strong terms on olie04's thread and feel fairly certain that I was responsible for having the thread pulled. Sorry, Kim |
Aug. 22 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Thanks, Hombre. The bat/ball combo is not going to change in the near future, so we can concentrate on issues like major plus, equalizers, home run rules--you know-real softball. And even throw in some funny stuff. The first part of 677 foot hr was light and funny.Stick and I have been joking about things under rules. What is so hard about that???? |
Aug. 22 Tim Millette 615 posts | I don't read all the topics on this site but I was told about this one. I cannot speak for the other guys being mentioned as potential banned posters but....... I would miss Joes posts on this board when I do read them. I know joe posts with a moniker that every west coast player..... He stands by his beliefs. Everyone knows who he is. If this board is worried about annamous posters attacking people they need to do just one thing...... Require every poster to sign in with his real name and his SSUSA card number. I didn't learn much in school but on the school yard I did learn sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you as long as your acting in the proper manner. |
Aug. 22 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | hombre i was all well and good till joey boy decided a couple of years back to go ballistic on me about balls, first it was the MCT ball(now lo and behold he likes to use it),then the 52 ball.i posted about the 52 ball(3 years back) b/c of all the griping about pitcher safety and the PPR,waivers, and use of safety equipment and such, and that is when joey boy decided he could do whatever he wanted on here with regards of just being a complete ... of himself to anyone who didn't think like him. well, i'm like that pitbull ya never should of woke up,sorry but that is just me.when someone comes after me,i do not take it,and that is in person or with internet hero's.i don't ever try and speak for anyone but myself. sorry hombre, hope to see ya down the road...... |
Aug. 22 birdie Men's 70 802 posts | Here is my two cents worth and all you have to do is reread Tim's hombre's and the wood's post. I could not have said it better. I am not very original but did not feel that I had to be because they have about summed it up. Thanks Harry |
Aug. 22 The real deal Men's 70 114 posts | Pricer: Sports don't build character, they reveal it... |
Aug. 22 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Real deal, I like that line. (Sports don't build character, they reveal it...) Can I use it? |
Aug. 22 GSWP001 Men's 60 75 posts | Real Deal, what a great line. I'm like Pricer, I like it. Thanks for sharing. |
Aug. 22 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | There are important issues about -bats/balls, -HR's as singles/outs -5 run innings -Bat Cheating -screens -website decorum, -pitcher conduct/style -safety -website standards -personal accountability -responsibility -common decency -common sense -disparaging comments -player centric softball philosophy -association/manufacturer centric softball philosophy and the darling of the new softball order, Free defensive substitution just to name a few, all of which drive ground and color all the discussions. To see the bickering is not paying attention or getting what is going on. The great majority of those who read, play and talk about what we are saying get us, who's who and care about and know who's zoomin' who. There's a movement a foot that would favor some manufacturers and associations regarding the caliber of balls bought and used and it needs to be checked and examined for its value and necessity to us and our game. I get much encouragement from friends, players and colleagues through various media and in person for fighting the good fight and daring to represent the players, our interests what we want and stand for. |
Aug. 23 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | What about "the oxen is slow, but the earth is patient". Has nothing to do with topic, but wanted to lighten it up a tad. |
Aug. 23 obagain Men's 50 72 posts | Einstine, Those are important issues and it is great that we can debate them on a forum like this where everyone gets a say and not just the few that know the brass. If we could have these discussions and not get into the name calling and such we would be where we need to be. Some take things very personal and if you disagree you must be a nut case, others say things just to stir the pot, I never understood how being a jerk makes someone happy but whatever. In some cases people talk about bats and cheating is ok as long as it isnt bad, like rolling or adding a bit of endload and then go on to say changing the equipment is a terrible thing. Others want to change the equipment to even the playing field, thus making the game less enjoyable for some. We can find a middle ground but not if we keep making excuses to gain an edge. Lets make the cheaters man up and play the game the way it is supposed to be played and we wont have to worry about changing the rules or equipment like others are proposing. |
Aug. 23 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Obagain, great post. But in my opinion instead of "Others want to change the equipment to even the playing field" I would say it's the equipment that has leveled the playing field. Does anyone else thinks the same or not? JMO |
Aug. 23 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Sorry, my previous post should be a new thread. |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Hey Bob. The overwhelming majority will not support going less than the present standard of good 44x375 balls and senior level bats. They've voted as in the SPA survey and all you have to do is ask us and we'll tell you. Good bats and balls works for us, the great majority of us. We don't need to attack or denigrate anyone but Bob, listen to me. No one is gonna or supposed to take it. If SSUSA doesn't defend us from personal attacks we are left to defend ourselves as we need and see fit. Wouldn't you say? |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | well that is untrue,as when pricer asked the question many threads back "if the bats and balls went back to USSSA standards or less" would you still play, and the overwhelming response was yes they would still play. |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | There can be no reasonable comparison between the results from an elective online survey that is not represented by any true cross section of the population and the much more representative one done by SPA. My understanding is that most won't play and when they do they will not enjoy what they are playing enough and continue to drop out. |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | mmmm you just can't believe what you read anymore i guess ...... how about taking that survey and just ask pitchers what they want,as that survey was prolly 90-10 hitters to pitchers weighted. |
Aug. 23 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | A "true" lover and player of Senior Softball will play with whatever is thrown out on the field and whatever is carried in his bag. Since 2002 or so, the game has evolved to include composite bats and more flight/speed enhanced balls. We play with these because its what is thrown on the fields when we play. Its not because we like them or hate them, only because thats what we have to use to be competitive with everyone else using them. Does it feel good when I hit a ball out with my Senior bat? Yes it does, but I can still rememeber how much better it felt hitting one out with my old 44oz Worth Thumper wooden bat or Mag Bat, how much more of a sense of accomplishment there was to that feeling knowing it was almost all me suppling the power and ability instead of technology. I'll play with whatever it takes to legally win a game, but would easily take that step back in time and never look back. |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | E4/E6 COULDN'T OF SAID IT BETTER....THANK YOU.... |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Easy with all that applause! John. What ball were you hitting with your 44 oz thumper? Do you remember? I would bet 2 universes it wasn't a 44x375 ball or a 52 core 275 ball. C'mon, John. It's the combo that's critical. We have always wanted/expected to play with a lively bat/ball combo no matter if it's the bat or the ball or both that gives us the drive. |
Aug. 23 Pricer Men's 50 621 posts | Joe, I think E4/E6 was saying it did not matter what ball they were using. E4/E6 can correct me if I'm wrong. |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | really thats what you think, how come softball played 70-80 years without this hot combo and they still played and had a lots of fun playing.we used wood bats, cork center balls and there were no problems or crying about a lively bat/ball is a must for us to play and to have fun,we played and thats it,oh and had tons of fun doing it,so please quit crying.it was well into the 90's before the metal bats changed significantly and into the 2000's before the composites came along,so i guess according to you,we didn't enjoy the game we played,oh guess what,it was back in those years(80-90's) that softball had their biggest increase of participation of people.once every thing got hot,is when participation started down. |
Aug. 23 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Joe, I am guessing they were using a kapok-center ball that probably had flat spots by the 3rd inning. A nyone remember Harwoods from the 70s? |
Aug. 23 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Oh hell, I would venture to say the peak of participation in what was then the Softball Capital of the World (Cleveland/Parma, Ohio) was in the 60s and 70s with very "primitive" equipment. |
Aug. 23 Donny C 54 posts | As far as reading the posts from Einstein and Gary C do there posts build character, I enjoy some of them both. They both take things a bit too personal and attack each other which makes for a reprisal by one or the other. These negative reprisals seem to build up in the both of them causing each to say things in anger rather than with common sense. They are both enthisiastic about what they write about just a difference of openion. Enthusiasm is a wonderful thing and make both Gary C and Einstein unique. Enthusiasm is so important to building charactor, so they both have it. Use your gifts without attacking each other no doubt you both can do this. Now my 2 cents worth on bats and balls: I enjoy using the better bats and balls and always have. We do not need better protection for pitchers what we need is to have the pitcher use a higher arc and not just tee up the ball for heavy hitters. A larger rubber would also help the picters. Add these things and we would have considerable fewer balls over the fence. The pitcher would be much less likly to get hit. I would bet strikeouts would come back into play and I have seen little of that since fast pitch. Donny C. |
Aug. 23 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | Joe we used an original Feather Golf Ball. If we were out and a Softball game wasnt near we would go golfing instead. Actually the ball we most used was a rock in most cases. But my point is we would play regardless of what ball or bat we used. Dont get me wrong, I like most everyone love their Senior bat(s), but I would still love the game just as much without them and the ball we now use. Minority opinion of course. =) |
Aug. 23 salio2k Men's 60 547 posts | When the results of the SPA survey came out, SPA and SSUSA realized that the majority liked the status qua as far as bats and balls go. Some, like Bob, believed that the results came out 90-10 batters over hitters. Those 10 percent are the ones that are on here looking for a different game .The batters, other than Joe, don't come on here pushing the combo they enjoy because they already have it. Most of the players play with ASA equipment in their city leagues already, so why pay to travel and play the same game. |
Aug. 23 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Salio2k-that's also why many don't say anything. They ACTUALLY LISTENED when SSUSA (Dave)said it is not going to change in the near future and they realize they don't need to bring it up over and over and over. |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Saying and doing Mark are two different verbs for very good reasons. They refer to two completely different actions. And when you use careful language like "don't foresee" you're making sure just in case it goes differently you're covered because one could say they weren't able to see that well or very clearly at all. There's no bad guys. Just a ton of conflicting interests that need name tags so we can keep track of who's who and who wants/needs what and why so important things don't get lost or stolen. |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | sal, webbie,i'm not pushing the ball, just put it out there when some decided many moons back there was a prol with the pitchers position, shots back up the middle, then the PPR,then the waivers and safety equipment requirement of the past 2 years. sal its not coming out 90-10 for hitting, but that is the % of hitters to pitchers playing, you have 1 pitcher on the field and the nine are hitters(as we know with this combo we can't call them fielders).so tell me who is gonna win that vote, just saying...... yes dave has said there will be no change, like you have said, but should that stop me from advocating a safer game for us seniors,so we can play longer.all it takes is ONE bad hop,a pitcher not reacting in time to a line shot, and such to loose someone from our senior family.i don't want to see it do either of you 2,i don't think so.... |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | No one wants you to get killed Robert driving home from BP but we don't put a governor on your engine to make sure you don't go to fast and hurt yourself. I mean this respectfully and thoughtfully. You have good intentions about safety but men need to be men and assumed risk is fundamental to living well and playing a satisfying game of softball. |
Aug. 23 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | I predict a pitcher will be hit on his left instep in 2014. After this we should review BATS and BALLs to make sure this does not happen again until 2037. PULL THE PLUG |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | you think that, then why don't cars go 200 mph on the road,oh thats right, the mfg'ers have made sure they don't(with urging from the ins company's),also the cars are required to have safety equipment, aka safety belts, crumple zones to keep the engine from ending up in your lap, side bars to from side hits, air bags.if ya want risk go sky dive, this is a recreational sport not a life and death sport. so don't the road when all the changes happens you can thank the insurance companies just like with the cars,as they will mandate safety, just like what is happening with ASA,USSSA and the other assoc's,at this momnet. |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | And safer can be had in many other ways as Donnie C points out by increasing the arc limits and widening and deepening the rubber, 1 and 1 count, screens and other ways too. Why must it always come at the expense of something that is fundamentally important to our game and that is "pace" and "feel" of hitting a ball hard and well. Donnie. You might say that Robert and I have a debate about points of concern and interest and we can get carried away but Gary C was not concerned about any of it. He lived to antagonize and disparage. That was his stated mantra and goal and how he got as far as he did with little to no redeeming value is a matter of some interest. |
Aug. 23 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | sorry crusher but when people just throw crap out there to justify someone being seriously injured or killed, well that is complete stupidity, specially when it can be prevented. the only thing that can prevent the pitcher from being done in is a screen and how many want to play with that, none of the other suggestions protect the pitcher what so ever. |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Robert. You're being pejorative. Look it up and stop. There you go calling us killers again even though you went 1200 miles to kill people yourself. You burying yourself by your own ignorance over and over again. |
