What will it take to ban Gary 19
Should we ask congress to ban Gary ???????
Call up the white house and ask for the first lady?????
No I dont think any of that will work.

But this idea will, Each member of the site send a email to the senior softball headquarters requesting the ban of member Gary 19.

I think once a few hundred emails roll in they will get the message!!!

I ABSOLUTLY AGREE WITH YOU PRICER. I READ THIS FORUM ON A REGULAR BASIS, BUT I READ VERY LITTLE FROM THE ONES THAT RAMBLE ON AND ON AND ON AND ON, BUT I'M SURE THERE ARE SOME THAT LIKE RESPONDING TO THIS TYPE OF ENTERTAINMENT. I'M JUST NOT ONE OF THEM. tO ME THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE THIS PROBLEM IS TO IGNORE IT ,DO NOT RESPOND TO HIM IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ HIS RESPONCES. THIS CAN BE DONE VERY EASY WITHOUT BANNING ANYONE. HE ONLY EXISTS BECAUSE SOME RESPOND TO HIM, QUIT.

In order for SSUSA to consider suspending the posting privileges of any registered Message Board member, there must be present a pattern of disregard for any of the (ONLY) four posting rules below that govern participation on the M/B.

Redundant and irrelevant postings, an apparent compulsion to post to almost every thread, taking contrary positions in debate as a matter of amusement, criticising and/or ridiculing portions of the Sr. Softball game, aggressive defense of perceived slights, assertions of intellectual superiority, and general annoyance, while not the most desired of posting traits, do NOT contravene any of the rules.

The best advice has been provided by many posters: Ignore threads that do not interest you and do not reply to threads unless you are willing to receive replies to your replies. Freedom of Speech, within the minimal rules, governs participation here.

When each Message Board member signs in to start a new discussion topic, they are greeted with this message:

I agree with Pricer. I may not like Gary19's tone but I just tune it out. No one says that I have to read his input. We all have a choice.

staff what would be nice would the ability of a poster to be able to edit their threads,to keep people off them that do not want to contribute legitimately/sincerely to them.let the thread starter be able to edit those that want to just trash the thread.........it let the threads stay on subject and not get side tracked.....as some posters just love to do.that way we don't have to have double the posts on a thread that have no bearing what so ever to the thread.

"an apparent compulsion to post to almost every thread"

Wow! I doubt if I post on more than 10% of the threads, if that many. I have heard of rounding up, but I think that is taking it a bit too far.

Apparently some of the kids on here can't make their own choices.

"Do not argue with an idiot................"

20% of the threads on the front page have your posts, but who's counting?
I like others will no longer answer a post by Gary19, "unless I deem it in MY best interest" to do so.

20 of the 100 most recent threads.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. But, I think, still far from "an apparent compulsion to post on almost every thread".

This site should be for sharing information dealing with softball equipment, experiences, tourneys etc... But look what this post is about! I agree if you don't like what someone has post just resist the urge to reply! Let's enjoy this site just like how we enjoy playing this great game!! Aloha, Fabe

Pricer there is nothing childish about it, posting to cause arguements is what is childish.

Staff from what im reading in your post the ssusa has taken a non moderation stance and will allow folks to start a arguement for the heck of it!!!!

Guys your right in saying "we donot have to respond to it" So can someone tell me how a subject can be kept on track with out some sort of moderation???????

Ignoring the other 2 ID's he has used and, if I recall correctly all 3 have violated #'s 1 & 2 at more than once.
He isn't the only one though. My .02 cents.

But having met, corresponded with and played against him, I also know #6 is creditable.

Mr Statistics here. I’m the guy that irritated einstein with cold hard facts. The current discussion touches on how often Gary19 chimes in on a post. It’s easy to figure, although time consuming. You take all of the posts he has made, then you go back through all of the threads. I went back to the last 200 threads, and here is what I found.

Gary19 posted on 19 of the last 100 topics/threads and 19 of the previous 100 threads. These 200 go back to early December. So he is a consistent 19% poster on all threads on this board.

But here is something interesting. Of those last 200 threads, 57 of them were very active, defined as having 10 or more posts to them. Of those 57 active threads, Gary19 posted on 31 of them. In other words, when there is discussion and interaction, Gary19 chimes in on 54% of them.

To express a different statistic, of the 38 threads that Gary19 joined (or initiated once), 31 of them were active threads with more than 9 posts. This means that 82% of Gary19’s posts were to very active threads.

Those 26 active threads where he did not post are primarily threads that have to do with questions about bats—comparisons, experience, durability, etc. Another theme that Gary19 seldom responds to are questions or discussion about teams—great teams, teammates from the past, which teams will be at a tournament, etc.

So Gary19 is an active poster, and perhaps some of those threads may not have exceeded 9 responses if it weren’t for his provocative input. It’s up to you whether he is a dominant poster or an excessive poster. These are just the statistics.

threeoutbandit ... You're starting to sound like someone else who used to post on this message board, but is now banned ... Threatening others is just about as low as you can go ... We don't need you to police this board for us.

#19 not to sound crazy but just what are you talking about????

I see a problem nothing more nothing less, and if asking for a ban is a threat to you then so be it.

I for one beleave Gary is a cancer and like all cancers should be eradicated."

Three, I believe this is the post of yours that #19 was refering to. Nice try playing dumb about it. Well, actually not a very good try at all. Failed miserably, actually. LOL

If our children were acting this way, we'd tell them to grow up! Obviously that don't apply to us manly ball players.

Life tends to go full circle. Old guys begin acting like children, and if they live long enough sometimes wind up back in diapers.

Sorry Gary I didnot see that post had been cut out and I stand behind it 100%.

No come back need. Yep I have problem all right and it's name is Gary, never have been able to stand a prick like him and never will. Im as light hearted a person as you will ever meet in life. People like Gary bring out the bad side of me and I never said I was perfect.

Gary iv been around longer than my 22 post shows, but we shall send you a reward for being able to get on a man's nerves in such a short post life.

So now I am a "prick". I guess we have another violation of the second rule.

Just because someone disagrees with you, or vice versa, does not or should not mean it has to lead to whatever effect it had on you.

People disagree, sometimes repeatedly I suppose. Total agreement would be pretty boring.

Never use a courtesy runner. unless I injure myself...I got the hit..I run it out. Even when playing with the kids..I run for myself (Mainly due to the fact the guys that hit in front and behind me are slower than I am :-o)

Mine is only two years younger, so can I have some for her too?

Heck, at the time I got married if I had gone for someone 10 years younger I would have been put in jail.

Ban Gary??? You must be kidding me!!! Here is a guy that is a self-proclaimed genius that has enlightened this board with expert opinions on just about every subject of interest that is initiated on this board. Without him, we would have to go to google for all that info...His insults seem sincere and also look like they have no boundries. His positive posts concerning the attributes of senior softball and all that is good about it are unrelenting..And... to top it all off, if you just want a warm, fuzzy, feel good perspective on life, he is the man to go to.. Ban HIM?? I say elect him!!

On a serious note.. although he is probably the most negative and obnoxiously arrogant poster, he is, by my thought, entitled to post his "contributions" on this board. I don't post much but read often and find it amusing that he is so able to get under so many posters skin so quickly.. You think that might be his objective? Nothing personal Gary.. Hope you have a sense of humor...
