Thanks bogie ... From a Director perspective, everything was as expected ... The balls are spherical ... They are optic yellow ... The guys we expect to jack it out of the park are doing so and those we don't expect to aren't ... It's a "fair to everyone" ball ... Temps were in the warm (high: 91°) range, but not Las-Vegas-Hot realm ... So far, so good in our view ... Thanks!

A $400 bat and a .50 core ball won't help a $2 swing. IMO ;-)

Ironic that you maybe a Yankee fan talking about small ball.
I wish we could go back 30 years ago but that ship has sailed.
Thus we’re in the year 2022 using senior bats and not wooden ones.
I appreciate you bringing us back in time. Metal spikes, no home plate mats or scoring lines. Oh my!

The Baden Fire Senior Ball is terrible. It's like hitting a pillow. I trust that SSUSA still does have a large outstanding order of Stotes that havent been delivered. Happy to be here. Love the tournament. Love the people. I just hate that ball.

Just returned yesterday so was not going to post since I was doing far better things when not playing...

Overall the ball was MEH. We played a total of 6 games and hit 4 homeruns total, played at Arroyo Grande, Sunset and BLD. Rotated balls as much as we could to keep a fresh one in, at least we didn't have to buy extra balls like years past since we never lost any at BLD, normally buying an extra dozen or two. Over all out of 5 Stars would give it a 2 at the most.

I can say the ShortPorch ball is much better and I will be using it in my local events.

But when you need mass quantity you take what you can get.

My understanding is that the Stote is still on backorder. Will SSSUSA commit to purchasing and using the SSUSA Stote with Microcell technology once the back order arrives? Once available, will the SSUSA stamped Trump Stote be the preferred ball moving forward in SSUSA sanctioned tournaments?

Not sure what division you play, but I would have to disagree with you. I played 55 major plus at Sunset and Arroyo Grande parks and the ball was equivalent to the Trump Stote that SSUSA has always used. I think this Baden Fire ball held up better in the heat than the Stote does. The Baden is definitely not the ROCK ball but than again only the new Tattoo ball compares with the Rock ball in my opinion.

Teams in my division I believe did not struggle because the ball was bad. If anything there were no mis-hit HR's like in years past because of the Rock ball.

Thank you SSUSA for getting a ball that performed like it should.

Benji the ball you used is synthetic defiantly not a composite rock or Tattoo, but the composite Badens are here very soon

Since Major+ players represent a very small % of the field it is more important to hear what the AAA and M players say about the ball. The ones I have spoken to have not had very good things to say about the new ball. I respect the Major+ players but let's be honest they are at a different level that a large majority of most of us.

Thanks:

Hey SSUSA
Here is my 2 cents about the balls in Vegas
We are a 60 AAA team for reference.
on a scale of 1-10 ... it is probably a 5

The balls hit ok if you keep a new ball in.
The BAD part is that as soon as the ball hits the dirt, the cover becomes a tan color, and you cannot see it at all around dusk or under the lights.
It is really a SAFETY problem.
Noone could see the ball the last 3 innings of our game.
It was really bad for both teams (we won the game so it's not an excuse)
The stole ball is much better, but both teams had to hit the same ball so it was even, I am just letting it known that the cover needs to be changed if we are going to keep using this ball.
Just my 2 cents

Thank you, Brett. I play in the outfield I thought I was going nuts. After the ball got dirty, I couldnt' track it in the outfield anymore. I could track it when it came my direction....but when it went to the opposite field, I couldn't see it. Not sure that is a problem with the particular ball...or just getting used to that kind of field condition. I don't remember having that problem with the Stotes or the Rocks.

It was the ball
Was even harder than usual in the day light.
Just an honest observation

I have played in 55AAA division, and have hit those baden fire senior balls...in my opinion, the balls are abit above average at best (my score out of 5 would be 3.5), as they will fly out when hitting the right spot hard. I have hit it out of field in morning, afternoon, and evening, but yeah in a way the temperature do play a small factor - the balls will go out better during the "cool" parts of the day (morning/evening) than the "warm/hot" part of the day (afternoon). The balls do get dirty fast, especially with the red sand from infields and I do suggest to bring a damp towel (or 2) to clean them off during the games, especially during the dusk.

@SKings24, the Short Porch ball you're referring to isn't legal in most sanctions. I'm referring to all 7 of the models that they offer- While most reputable manufacturers produce balls to a "max" COR /compression (i.e. "not to exceed") standard, the balls you are promoting are designed with a "min" COR / compression stamp on them.

It's a HR derby ball, nothing more.

I kept detailed stats of the seeding games in the 45 team, 60 AAA bracket on Thursday.... 1,458 runs were scored in seeding games alone- That's an average of 32 runs per game, which seems like a good number to me.

I'll agree that the ball picks up and carries dirt. A few teams quickly figured out that alcohol wipes do a nice job of cleaning the balls and getting the dirt off of them.

We played 55AAA and found the balls to be much BETTER than the Trump balls - which is a low bar as the Trump balls are some of the worst balls out there. The Trump balls last a few innings at best. The Baden Fire balls seemed to be at least as good as the Trump at the start of the game but didn't lose their performance as quickly as the Trump does. I agree with everyone else, these balls discolored quickly and flew somewhat erratically at times in the OF. Overall though, not a bad ball and I believe a good option for SSUSA for this tournament.

The Tatoo remains the best ball out there in my opinion. The Rock is a great ball for Vegas but if SSUSA would switch to the Tatoo that would be great. I don't buy the argument that they are too expensive. Not sure why we're even having that debate since the teams ultimately pay the fee for the balls, NOT SSUSA. Even at $2-$3 extra/ball that's only $12-$18 more per team each tournament. That's a silly amount to justify purchasing a ball that almost nobody wants (Trump or some of the other yellow turds we've used at other tournaments this year).

Separately - I think they folks running the tournament this past weekend did a great job at the fields. Our team had no complaints and everyone on the SSUSA staff was very helpful. Kudos to all those that made the weekend happen. It's a huge undertaking and it went great from this perspective.

No one really had any complaints about the Stote Microcell when it was the main ball used. I understand there was a significant shortage but 330 dozen of them are do to arrive at BSN in 2 weeks. Will SSUSA use them going forward

Baden ball is just fine. I hit two home runs and could have had a third but it was into the wind 65AAA and I'm not normally a HR hitter. Bruce M maybe you should hit the gym. It's definitely no pillow.

I spoke to a 60M player yesterday who said their team hit a total of 5 HRs at BLD in 5 games. He said if you throw in a new ball every 2-3 innings that will help. He was not complaining just telling it like it is.

Thanks:

I play 55 AAA. I hit as many out as I usually do. It's not a Rock but I personally think the Rock us too much. The ball did get dirty quickly and did retain the color of the dirt which I thought was strange. I never saw a ball do that before. Anyone who hit an HR earned it and that's the way it should be.

Recently took a poll on a separate Senior Softball Message board for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, Montana of preferred softballs for tournaments. The choices were: The XRock SSUSA, Stote SSUSA, Baden Fire Senior Ball, Gold Dot. Here are the results: 70% X Rock SSUSA. 30% Stote SSUSA. Baden Fire Senior Ball, 0%. Gold Dot, 0%. There is some data for you.

That's good news! ... We're using the TOP RATED AVAILABLE BALL from your list for the World Championships ... But that was actually pretty easy because the Baden Fire Senior is the only one of a total of one options for delivering 700 dozen in a single tournament order ... Cool, we got it right ...

For what its worth I found the ball to be just fine. I personally only have 2 issues with the ball. 1) it gets ridiculously dirty after it hits the dirt/clay. I play 3rd in 55m's and 50m,so and its really hard to read the ball off the bat. 2) it can be very slick if you field it with a little dirt on the ball. Our team felt that the ball hit fine, i did hear a few hits where the ball sounded soft but overall it was fine. guys that were expected to hit hr's hit them with no issues, guys that don't didn't and I like that most of the mis hit hr's were kept down. The seams are a little flat but if they can fix the dirty retention issue this could be a gamer ball.

It's been mentioned that alcohol wipes work. Might have to add a small spray bottle of a cleaning solution and hand towel.

Had no issues with ball performance.

Funny though, how the cleanliness issue came into play. We had the opposing teams "throw in" the dirty ball(s) [on purpose] knowing that it became tough to see, especially at dusk.
